Sky Cinema Launch Christmas Campaign
It’s mid November, and you know what that means – the return of Christmas adverts. Oh, summer feels like it was just yesterday, we know, but there’s no stopping the unstoppable juggernaut that is Christmas advertising. So, with 6 weeks to go before the big day, Sky are launching the advertising campaign for the 2016 Christmas season.
It’s Sky Cinema’s first Christmas after their successful rebrand from Sky Movies, and as such, Sky are pulling out all the stops to remind everyone just what Sky’s film channels are all about.
In the adverts audiences are taken through an advent themed world where, as calendar doors are opened, we get a glimpse at some of the massive movies which are coming to the service over the festive period. You’ll see Jungle Book; The Revenant, Deadpool and Zootropolis – all part of Sky Cinema’s ‘New Premiere Every Day’ offering which brings a new film to the service every day of the week.
The charming campaign is fronted by a 40 second spot which debuted during an episode of the X-Factor and opened in a snowy Christmas town, lit by a glowing night sky. It then whipped viewers on a journey through an advent calendar; first to a scene from the Jungle Book before moving to the cold depths of The Revenant before checking out Deadpool fighting for his life and finally a door opens to Zootropolis characters making their escape.
Two further 20 second spots welcome us to the world of Sky Cinema and repeat the main adverts main themes – namely that there’s a new premiere every day on Sky Cinema and that there’s over 1,000 movies available to stream on demand.
The adverts were created by long-time collaborator WCRS and directed by Noah Harris – who has previously worked for Asus and Google. The intricate scenes in the advert were created by using both hand drawn animation and CGI in order to bring the enchanted calendar to life and produce the incredible advert. Customers have been reacting positively to the adverts and using the Sky telephone number to contact Sky and upgrade to the service.
Ian Lewis, Director, Sky Cinema commented: “This year’s advert builds excitement for Sky Cinema over the festive period for the whole family. We wanted to provide a glimpse into the magic of the movies we have premiering every day during December, and throughout the year. Our aim is to remind viewers of the magic of movies at Christmas.”
Leon Jaume, Executive Creative Director at WCRS said: “How do you like your advent calendar? Chocolates in cardboard or a cinematic blockbuster bursting out of every door suspended in a dazzling night sky above a snow covered village. We incline towards the latter and thanks to Noah Harris and his Christmas elves working around the clock, that’s what we’ve got. Happy Christmas.”
