Whether we’re ready or not, Christmas is just around the corner, and that means that it’s time to prize open that bank account and start splashing the cash a little. Whether it’s for a loved one or for yourself, there’s nothing quite like the month of December to convince you to spend the cash. When it comes to mobile phones, too, there’s basically no better time than near the Christmas season to get in on the latest handsets. With most new phones being announced in the summer/early autumn, by purchasing now you’ll get all the latest phones without having to worry about it being instantly replaced by a newer model.

In this guide, we’ll be looking at the very latest Vodafone deals so you can get the best phone with the best package at a price that suits you. So, before you head to the 0844 800 3116 contact number for Vodafone, let’s dig in to some deals.

Top of the Range – Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

If you’re looking for perhaps the very best phone available on the market right now, you couldn’t look much further than the S6 Edge+. Reviewers were effusive in their praise of it when it was released in late August, describing it as having both “beautiful and functional” and as having a “museum-quality finish”. It’s got a gorgeous wrap-around 5.7″ 4K screen, a world class mobile camera, a gigantic battery for multiple day use, wireless charging and a fingerprint reader. Put simply, it’s the top dog, but you can still get it on some perfectly affordable contracts.

Our pick is the Red 6GB Bundle, which has you paying £9 up front and then £49 per month for 24 months. In return, you get the Edge+, 6GB of 4G data a month and totally unlimited minutes and texts every month. That’s usually more than enough for anybody, but if you spend another £5 per month you can get the Red Value 8GB Bundle, which adds on another 2GB to bring it to 8GB per month and even throws in a subscription to either Netflix, Now TV, Spotify or Sky Sports Mobile completely free of charge.

Mid Range – iPhone 5S 32GB

The iPhone 5S may now be a couple of generations old, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth picking up on the right contract. As the first iPhone to feature a fingerprint reader, it’s still plenty up to date and features a good camera, fast performance, a lovely design and a great screen. Put simply, it’s still an excellent phone, and if you don’t go in for pressing hard on the screen to make different things happen, it’s basically just as good as the new iPhone 6 line of iPhones. Because of its age, it can also be had on some very reasonable deals.

Our pick is the Red 6GB Bundle. It will cost you £9 up front, followed by £35 per month, and you’ll get 6GB of 4G per month and unlimited calls and texts on a 24 month contract. There are cheaper contracts available, but they drastically cut the amount of data you can have without making the deals that much cheaper. Alternatively, for the same monthly cost you could opt for the Red Value 4GB Bundle, which loses 2GB of data but throws in six months free Netflix, Now TV, Spotify or Sky Sports Mobile.

Budget – Motorola Moto G

Once upon a time, buying a cheap smartphone meant getting a heavily compromised experience. Well, not anymore. Say hello to the Moto G.

Now in it third generation, the Moto G packs a lovely 5″ HD display, good 13MP camera, a fast processor and a long lasting (and replaceable) battery. It’s even waterproof, so it’ll survive a quick dip without any problems at all. Perhaps best of all, it runs stock Android, and will get all the latest updates shortly after release. That means it’s fast, stable and secure, as well as quite beautiful. The Moto G won’t stand up to the most expensive smartphones on the market, but it will surprise you as to how much smartphone you get for very little money.

The cheapest bundle available is the Standard 500MB bundle, which is free up front, costs £17 per month for 24 months and comes with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of 4G. We’d recommend you avoid that deal though, unless you don’t really plan on using your smartphone outside of the house.

Our pick is the Red 2GB Bundle. It costs nothing up front and sets you back £26 per month for 24 months, but it comes with unlimited texts and minutes and 2GB of 4G data. That’s more than enough for checking Facebook, the occasional YouTube video, uploading to Instagram and handling your normal internet tasks. It might, however, struggle to match up if you’re planning on streaming your music constantly. Alternatively, you can save £5 per month and lose 1GB of data and drop to 1000 minutes a month for £21 on the Standard 1GB Bundle.
