Formed in 2010 as a 50:50 joint venture, EE is Britain’s largest mobile network provider with roughly 28 million customers. They took over as Britain’s largest network, following the merger of their respective T-Mobile and Orange businesses in the UK. EE is also the largest 4G LTE network provider in the UK, and they have expanded their services over the last three years to include home broadband and car Wi-Fi. They also operate the largest number of mobile network retail stores in the United Kingdom, with 590 EE retail stores operational at of the end of 2015.
On the December 10th, 2014, BT Group announced that they were in exclusive talks to buy EE fir £12.5 billion. Three months later, they announced that they would be acquiring EE wholesale for that price, subject to regulatory approval. Though it took some time for the regulators to decide whether BT owning EE would dilute competition in the UK market.
On the 15th of January, BT received unconditional approval from the Competition and Markets Authority, and the deal was officially completed on the 29th of January 2016, with Deutsche Telekom taking a 12% stake in BT and Orange taking 4%.

Making the most of your phone call to EE
When customers choose to call the EE, they will be connected to an automated menu which requests that the caller selects the option that is most relevant to their personal enquiry. Amongst other things – customer feedback forms, gathering data of email correspondence for example – this is one way that EE learn what information most customers are looking for. While customers may find it frustrating to listen to an automated menu, it is important to remember that if they do not listen and select the option most closely related to their enquiry, they are not assisting the company in the best way to allow for EE to offer efficient customer service.
It is important to remember that while this is a direct dial number through to the EE customer support department, Contact Telephone Numbers has no affiliation with EE and therefore cannot be of assistance to their customers. EE will most likely record all calls in order to use the data for training and monitoring purposes.
Who are EE?
EE are a fairly new company in terms of operating as a company on their own – they are a hybrid company made up of T-mobile and Orange. These were two major mobile phone providers in the UK but in order to strengthen their businesses, they combined to make one company with a wider extent of coverage.
If EE are a BT company, are their phone lines managed by BT?
Even though EE don’t enjoy the best reputation for customer service, BT have stressed that they have no plans to combine their customer service departments. Instead, EE is kept as a wholly owned but separate organisation. This also means that whilst on the phone to EE, you can’t make any changes to your BT deal.
Where are EE’s call centres?
In 2016, EE made the decision to move 1,000 jobs back to the UK in a bid to improve their customer service reputation. Studies among their customers had found that a majority of customers didn’t like speaking to a member of customer service who didn’t speak English as a first language. As such, all EE call centres are now based within the UK and Ireland. Upon announcement of the deal, Marc Allera, EE chief executive said:
“We’re bringing 100% of our EE customer service calls back to the UK and Ireland.
“We’ve already seen a major boost in customer satisfaction by creating 1,400 new service jobs here since 2014.
“Now we’re creating 600 additional jobs to handle all EE customer service calls in the UK and Ireland by the end of this year, providing the best possible experience for our customers.”
