Sky Cinema Programmes

As Sky continues to expand across Europe and develop itself into much more than a mere television provider, they’ve been laying down vital groundwork to fund their growth.

However, their success will likely always be underpinned by a continued dominance in the pay-tv sector. That’s why the company have this week announced two new long-term strategic partnerships with major American content providers – A+E and NBC Universal.

It’d be fair to say that despite the occasional theatrics, the last year hasn’t been a thrilling one for Sky Sports customers. The Premier League quickly became a procession as a strong Chelsea side cantered to the title and few surprises were sprung in the other major sporting tournaments broadcast on Sky.

Of course, it’s not all about the drama, but a good, evolving story is what keeps us coming back to services like Sky Sports, and keeps us from choosing to contact Sky and cancel our pricey Sky Sports passes or subscriptions.

Virgin are a massive company. With fingers in everything from home broadband to healthcare and beyond, there’s no shortage of areas in life where you’ll find the Virgin brand. Because of that scale, it can be hard to keep on top of all the Virgin news out there, although it’s fair to say that Virgin don’t do the best job at collating that information into one place.

21st century fox takeover faq

When it comes to pay TV, there’s no bigger company within the UK than Sky. Created from the buyout of the failing British Satellite Broadcasting and merged with Sky Television Plc back in 1989, BskyB (now simply Sky) endured a rocky start to life. The subsequent decades, however, have seen the struggling pay TV supplier become the dominant force in the market, outmuscling the likes of BT, Virgin and a host of smaller suppliers.

News and entertainment changes

When it comes to our home entertainment, we all love Sky. With incredible programmes, the best selection of films anywhere and wonderful sport all year ’round, there’s nothing quite like it. However, we don’t often pay much thought to how those amazing experiences find their way to our television screens.

Every day, thousands of people work together to bring your the biggest breaking news stories, the funniest comedies and much more. Their work hardly goes noticed, and they’re unlikely to be mentioned when we contact Sky, but they make the entire operation run smoothly.

best and worst customer service

It’s a sad fact of our everyday lives that when we call the customer service department of a company, we prepare ourselves for the worst. Decades of shoddy, inattentive customer service experiences and countless hours wasted on the line trying to get your questions have taught up to expect the worst.

However, it’s not true that every company offers bad customer service. In fact, despite the fact that 74% of Brits think that the standard of customer service is ‘poor’, there are companies posting incredible satisfaction rates from their customers.

Sky Cinema Christmas Advert

It’s mid November, and you know what that means – the return of Christmas adverts. Oh, summer feels like it was just yesterday, we know, but there’s no stopping the unstoppable juggernaut that is Christmas advertising. So, with 6 weeks to go before the big day, Sky are launching the advertising campaign for the 2016 Christmas season.

It’s Sky Cinema’s first Christmas after their successful rebrand from Sky Movies, and as such, Sky are pulling out all the stops to remind everyone just what Sky’s film channels are all about.

new comedy for 2017

There’s no denying that when it comes to new programming, Sky have been on an excellent run. Critically acclaimed comedies have been plentiful on Sky, but there’s yet to be a truly breakout comedy on the service. Blame it on the exclusivity of Sky’s platforms or a simple snobbishness about the programmes Sky make, but the company haven’t created a beloved national favourite… yet.

sky binge watching features

Though many people will stress the impact YouTube has had on our broader media consumption habits, for those that pay attention, it’s clear that the more influential service has been Netflix.

Thanks to Netflix, the way we enjoy TV has changed fundamentally. A move away from scheduled weekly broadcasting in favour of series ‘dumps’ all at once has meant that so-called ‘binge watching’ of series has exploded in popularity. Now, we’re used to sitting down with a pile of snacks and digging into a 6 hour marathon of our favourite new series.
